The 200th TELSCOPE installation onboard Aurora Saltfjord, operated by Aurora Offshore, marks an important milestone. Developed in close cooperation with customers, TELSCOPE and the associated implementation processes have been continuously refined to support an efficient transition from paper-based to electronic logbooks. Today, the solution is used by more than 3,000 users across vessels and shore-based organisations.

Efficient and Accurate Record-Keeping

TELSCOPE makes daily log entries faster and easier by ensuring that relevant, timely and accurate sensor data from connected systems is electronically available at the point of entry. When a log entry is created and the event time is defined, associated system data is automatically populated.

By reusing system information wherever possible, TELSCOPE reduces the risk of errors and ensures complete, high-quality log entries. At the same time, it significantly reduces manual and repetitive paperwork, allowing crew members to focus more on critical operational tasks.

Positive feedback from the daily use of TELSCOPE across 200 vessels and their shore-based teams highlights a clear shift towards electronic logbooks. This underlines the role of electronic logbooks as a natural part of modern ship operations.

Keeping Ship and Shore in Sync

The TELSCOPE Shore module keeps ship and shore in sync, with user-defined update intervals.

Office access to updated records

The TELSCOPE Shore module keeps ship and shore systems synchronised and up to date. It gives the office direct access to the latest logbook updates and  all reports without the need to request information manually assisted by crew staff.

With TELSCOPE Shore the easy access to updated records of any log can easily used for incident reporting, demurrage and insurance-related matters, either from individual logs or as consolidated reports across multiple record books.

TELSCOPE electronic record books are type approved by DNV in accordance with ISO 21745 and are aligned with the requirements set forth by SOLAS and MARPOL.

TELSCOPE Provides COMPLETE Checklist Control

The TELSCOPE Shore module supports efficient updating, distribution and activation of procedures and checklists across the fleet.

TELSCOPE ensures ISM compliance

TELSCOPE Shore provides a complete quality system for managing procedures and checklists. These are maintained ashore, and all changes are automatically distributed and activated onboard. This ensures that crew members always work with the correct and most recent routines.

The office staff has full access to signed checklists completed on board, providing ongoing documentation of compliance with ISM requirements and the company’s own ISM procedures. With all checklists and log entries consolidated and accessible from shore, conditions are well-suited for effective reviews and compliance checks, including remote audits.

For the MARPOL record books, the solution also supports transfer of log entries to the VDR, enabling trustworthy comparison of log data with VDR recordings for the same period of time.

Recognised by Multiple Flag States

A number of flag states have approved TELSCOPE as a replacement for all traditional paper record books.

A modern, well-proven and internationally accepted solution

The increasing number of flag state approvals, installations and users demonstrates the solution’s maturity and acceptance in the market. While most flag administrations have broadly similar, yet in some cases slightly differing, approval regimes for electronic logbooks, TELSCOPE is already accepted by a wide range of flag states and has been developed to meet both current and future regulatory needs.

With a growing installed base and extensive operational experience across vessel types and segments, TELSCOPE represents a stable and forward-looking platform for electronic record-keeping. This provides shipowners and operators with confidence in both long-term compliance and day-to-day operational use.
